Your Provisional Driving Licence

You can apply for your provisional driving licence three months before your 17th birthday.

What do you need?

  • You need to be a resident of Great Britain
  • Meet the minimum age and eyesight requirements
  • Provide your residential address for the past three years
  • Provide your national insurance number (if known)
  • Not be prevented from driving for any reason

It costs £34 and can be paid using debit or credit card.

Prices & Lesson Booking

The Theory Test

Your theory test will consist of two parts:

  1. 50 multiple choice questions with a pass mark of 43/50
  2. Hazard perception test with a pass mark of 44/75

It’s essential that you pass both parts of the test, so that you can continue to book your practical driving test.

The Practical Test

Your practical driving test will be roughly 40 minutes long and will cover a wide range of roads and traffic situations. You’ll be asked to carry out one manoeuvre and a ten minute independent driving section, you may also be asked to perform a controlled stop.

At the end of your driving test, you will be told whether you have passed or failed.
